New study reveals FGM practiced in Kerala, India

For years, the conversation around female genital mutilation in India has centred on one community, the Dawoodi Bohras.

Now, a first-of-its-kind exploratory study by survivor-led anti-FGM-organisation WeSpeakOut suggests that picture may have been incomplete. Based on interviews with nine women from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district, the study documents survivor accounts.
